Neurological Physiotherapist - Band 6

Job summary

We are inviting applications for a motivated and forward-thinking Physiotherapist to join our Community neuro outpatient team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual looking to enhance their clinical skills within a supportive and dynamic environment. We provide close MDT working with our OT, RA and Psychology partners in particularly, and wider specialist nurses.

As a key member of the team, you will be involved in the supervision, education, and appraisal of physiotherapists, support staff, and students. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to lead and participate in relevant service development initiatives

We are looking for a physiotherapist with strong clinical reasoning skills, excellent communication, and a genuine passion for neurorehabilitation. Previous experience in neurological physiotherapy is beneficial, along with the ability to work independently and flexibly within a community setting. A valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes are required.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide Physiotherapy assessment to neurological patients with diverse physical and cognitive presentations, and deliver an individualised treatment programme, in clinic, patients homes and community settings
  • To be responsible for delivering group education and or rehabilitation programmes and specialist clinics e.g. Parkinson's, MS and FND as required
  • To provide expert advice, guidance and information to health and social care professionals, carers and relatives and other non-professionals
  • To hold responsibility for own case load, working without direct supervision but access to advice and support from a senior physiotherapist is available regularly
  • To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner
  • To provide expert advice, guidance and information to health and social care professionals, carers and relatives and other non-professionals
  • To work as a member of the Hertfordshire Neurological Service team which specialises in the treatment and management of patients with stroke and other neurological conditions
  • To be responsible for clinical supervision, education and assessment of a band five or rehabilitation assistant
  • To supervise, educate and assess the performance of physiotherapy student

Management and Leadership

To deputise for more senior staff in their absence, taking responsibility for operational management of the Physiotherapy team and allocating and organising the work of assistant staff to meet service priorities on a daily basis.

To supervise the record keeping of Band 5 and student Physiotherapists and rehabilitation assistants according to HCT and professional standards.

To be responsible for teaching student Physiotherapists to graduate level on Physiotherapy skills and knowledge within core clinical areas.

To teach, assess and contribute to the performance assessment and appraisal of band 5 Physiotherapists, and rehabilitation assistants.

Communication and Relationship Building

  • Develop and maintain good communication with all levels of staff and management

Information Management

  • To provide statistical information on PT treatments, activities and outcomes on a daily basis
