Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Community and School Aged Immunisation Service to support the delivery of a range of vaccinations across the county . The work will involve working in a variety of settings, including Schools, community clinics, homes, vaccination Hubs across the county .

We are looking for a public health focused nurse, midwife or other HCP with a passion for protecting our communities.

The work will involve some weekend and evening work to meet the needs of our communities. If you have previous immunisation experience or a willingness to learn, and have worked with a variety of ages from babies to older adults we would love to receive your application.

Main duties of the job

The role will require the successful candidates to travel and so you must hold a full valid driving license and access to a car to use regularly for business purposes is essential (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).

Job responsibilities

The Community Immunisation Practitioner is responsible for the delivery of the Immunisation Programmes as delegated by the Senior Immunisation nurse, Clinical lead or Team Lead.

  • Reporting to the Immunisation Team and Clinical Lead the Community Immunisation Practitioner will support the development of the service and work with colleagues to ensure the delivery of a safe and effective Community and School Age Immunisation programme.
  • To be responsible for the delivery of an effective and efficient Immunisation Programme in partnership with service users, other stakeholders and commissioners.
  • To be responsible for collecting accurate data at each session
  • To work collaboratively in the planning and delivery of immunisation programmes across communities in order to achieve the KPIs across the programme.
  • To work with local statutory, private and voluntary providers, and users to develop and promote practice that is accessible and responsive to all section of the local community, ensuring that services are targeted to the most vulnerable groups and individuals to support social inclusion.
  • To promote and monitor safe and effective practice
  • To provide and promote access to information and other services, to refer as appropriate. To liaise and work in partnership with statutory and non-statutory agencies, and other health services colleagues.
  • To provide health promotion/ education in line with the Immunisation programme.
  • To adhere to current Local Safeguarding Board and Child Protection Procedures.

  • Current Registration with NMC and knowledge of NMC Code of Professional Conduct
