We seek a Band 6 Registered Children's Nurse to join our well- established team. The successful candidate can be assured that a full orientation period and support in achieving the required competencies will be provided.
The Children's Community Nursing Team in West Hertfordshire is an autonomous and experienced team committed to providing outstanding nursing care and reducing hospital attendances in order to minimise the effects of hospitalisation on the sick child. Based in Watford, we are mobile workers attending to a vast range of care needs in community settings requiring flexible clinical skills. We are focussed on thecontinuous professional development of our staff to meet the ever changing needs of CYP nursing. Our service spans the 7-day period between 08:00-18:00 extending to a 24 hour on call service for end of life care. Our weekend and on call cover is provided by nurses working at Band 6 and above. We welcome and strongly encourage informal visits from prospective candidates.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the role include:
- Providing ambulatory care such as intravenous medication.
- Reviewing acutely unwell children as part of the Urgent Care Pathways.
- Ongoing nursing management of CYP with chronic conditions including oncology, juvenile arthritis and respiratory conditions.
- Providing nursing care to CYP with complex needs.
- Palliative care of children.

- To create individual care plans for specific children, negotiating, agreeing, implementing and evaluating with parents and other professionals.
