The Positive Behaviour, Autism, Learning disability Mental health Service (PALMS) are expanding and seeking to appoint additional motivated and forward thinking consultants with enthusiasm, commitment, and drive to work closely with colleagues throughout the organisation and within the community. We have a substantive 11 PA post based in the South and West of Hertfordshire with localities in Watford and St Albans, part time and job share applicants are welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
PALMS is a CAMHS commissioned service which provides a specialist multi-disciplinary approach offering bespoke support for CYP, aged 0-18 who have a global learning disability and/or autism spectrum disorder. PALMS provide input for a range of presentations including mental health, challenging behaviour, toileting, feeding and sleeping concerns which have not benefitted from Community interventions, and which cannot be met with reasonable adjustments by mainstream services.
PALMS provides intervention at the getting more help level, interventions include workshops, intervention groups, individual therapy, and therapeutic work with CYP and families. Predominant models include Systemic, Narrative, Behavioural and Biopsychosocial firmly adhering to the STOMP/STAMP agenda.
About us
This post provides the opportunity to work within the multi-disciplinary team in PALMS, working alongside Consultant Psychiatrists, Clinical Psychologists, Learning Disability Nurses, Outreach Workers, PALMS' Practitioners, Positive Behaviour Analysts, Speech and Language Therapists and Systemic Therapists supported by a team of Administrators.
PALMS deliver a consistent service across Hertfordshire principally between 7am and 7pm. It is expected that the consultants will provide a service to cover working hours 9am-5pm Monday- Friday with some flexibility to offer an early morning or evening clinic once a week.
