Job summary

A great opportunity has arisen for the position of a Ward Manager for Izod Ward at Evesham Community Hospital. Izod Ward is a 16 bedded Unit within Evesham Community Hospital. The Hospital is a 47 bedded stroke and general rehabilitation unit. We hold some of the traditional values of a Community Hospital with high standards of person-centered care, time to talk to your patient, build relationships and be part of their recovery from admission to discharge.

We recognise the strengths of individual staff and work in an integrated multi-disciplinary team approach to create a professional and sensitive environment where patients, relatives and colleagues are treated with courtesy and respect.

We require somebody who is dynamic, innovative a highly motivated role model with strong leadership attributes and commitment, with good communication skills to support the team on Izod Ward. This post is open to Band 6 or Band 7s, you will have a Registration in Nursing, Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy.

Main duties of the job

Carry the management and leadership responsibilities for a ward/department, including liaison with other agencies and, where appropriate, the supervision, delegation and teaching of staff and/or students, patients and carers.

Ensure that admission and discharge planning practice is undertaken in accordance with good practice policy and guidance.

Always ensure safe and effective deployment of nursing staff in the ward taking into account off duty and leave.

Effectively manage the ward budget and participate in recruitment and selection procedures within the team and in appropriate areas of the Trust.

Undertake annual Staff Appraisal and Development Reviews with team members.

Ensure the health and safety of self, staff and patients, reporting any accidents, incidents, hazards or defects in line with Trust policy and have responsibility for the investigation of clinical incidents within the team.

Responsible for the performance management of staff within the team.

Promote the importance of clinical governance within the team; implement effective clinical governance processes as a means of maintaining, improving and monitoring the quality of patient care.
