An exciting opportunity has
arisen for a part time band 5 Podiatrist to join a Community Team based in Redditch
Worcestershire and covering other nearby
parts of the county. It is
a 32 hour post, part time hours would
however be considered. We are happy to negotiate flexible
working hours to fit with individual needs as well as fulfilling the
requirements of the service. We would encourage 3rd
year podiatry students to apply for this role that are due to graduate from
University in 2024.
We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Podiatrist
to provide Podiatry and specialist knowledge to promote clinical excellence. The successful candidate will need to
be an autonomous practitioner and will be provided with support and mentorship
from the wider podiatry team. You will use evidence based/ patient centred
principles to assess, plan, and deliver individualised treatment programmes and
delegate responsibility as appropriate.
You will also
promote patient empowerment of their conditions and support decision making.
The post holder will need to be a keen team member with a strong work ethic,
flexible approach and have effective communication skills. The Post holder will
benefit and contribute to a robust supervision model in place which has a
strong emphasis on shared learning across services. We require an individual
who is self-driven, reliable, works well within a team and communicates
effectively.
Main duties of the job
The
post holder will provide high quality assessments and treatments in clinics ,
patient homes , residential homes , acute and community hospital wards .
These
treatments include simple wound care , and routine podiatry for extremely high
risk patients , to maintain and improve tissue viability , relieve pain , and
assist patients in maximising their independence and mobility .
Your
treatments will be recorded contemporaneously , and to the highest standards
reflecting the trust documentation and record keeping policies , and the
standards expected by the Royal College of Podiatry.
You
will be required to liaise with other services within countywide podiatry and
outside of it , including GPs , nurses , and care agencies .
You
will join a nail surgery rota with your colleagues .
You
will join the team in telephone triage for new and existing patients , to
prioritise care for those most at risk .
You
will participate in peer review , reflective practice and audit , and actively
participate in clinical supervision .
The successful applicant will work alongside and be
supported by our team of podiatrists. You will be supported in this post with
Trust and Service Induction, as well as with guidance and supervision from our
existing team. It is essential you can fulfil the travel requirements of the
post.

will include full screening for patients with, for example, diabetes mellitus
where necessary using specialist equipment.

Provide support for colleagues and supervision for podiatry assistants
and participate in the Preceptorship programme.
Maintain confidentiality at all times.

needs.
Identify
through assessment patients who do not reach podiatry access criterion and be
able to diplomatically discharge such patients in circumstances where there may

activity which in negotiation with the Team Leader, appears to be appropriate.
Participate
in the Staff Development and Review process with the Team Leader to identify
professional and/or personal areas for development.
