Job summary

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, experienced physiotherapist to join our community Learning disability team in Worcestershire. You would join an established, friendly, and supportive community learning disability multi-disciplinary team based in Worcestershire. You would be working across the county to meet the clinical needs of adults with a learning disability and would be working in a variety of settings; day centres, supporting living homes, family homes, residential homes to provide patient centred interventions, working closely with carers and family.

The post holder will provide assessment, diagnosis and develop bespoke therapy for a caseload of service users with a learning disability and complex needs, using evidence based/client centred principles and delivered in accordance with HCPC and CSP.

Main duties of the job

You will have the opportunity to manage a mixed caseload of patients with a Learning Disability and a variety of health needs such as complex neurological physical disabilities, musculo-skeletal difficulties, frail, elderly and dementia, chronic respiratory conditions, obesity, and those with poor physical activity levels.

You will be providing comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation of appropriate interventions and evaluation for adult patients with a learning disability in order to optimise their physical function. You will be providing safe, effective, interventions.

You will gain invaluable skills and further experience in 24-hour postural management working with people who have complex physical disabilities with a moderate to profound learning disability and in promoting safe mobility and prevention of falls in those with a learning disability.

Along with the physiotherapy team you will be responsible for managing and prioritising referrals according to clinical need for LD physiotherapy across the county and providing supervision to student physiotherapists.

You would be working in a variety of settings to provide patient centred interventions, working closely with carers and family, offering support and recommendations to prevent complications.
