Job summary
An exciting full-time
opportunity has arisen to join the Information Governance Team. The small,
friendly team consists of 2 Information Governance Officers, Freedom of Information
(FOI) officer, and a Records Management Manager and team.
The Information
Governance team is part of the wider Company Secretary team, with a hybrid
working pattern anticipated to be 3 days in the office, 2 days at home,
although subject to the needs of the service. Core team days in the office are Tuesday and Wednesday
every week with occasional support of our clinical and operational teams ain
locations across the Herefordshire and Worcestershire. There is a previous FOI
Officer within the Information Governance team as an Information Governance
Officer who will be available to support the induction and mentoring programme
for the successful applicant and continue to build on the established FOI
effectiveness.

Main duties of the job
The role is for FOI
Officer and will be responsible for leading and delivering an effective FOI
preparation and responses for the Trust.Reporting to the Head of
Information Governance and sitting within an experienced and friendly
Information Governance team. The successful Candidate (supported by the wider
Information Governance team members and Head of Information Governance) will be
responsible for leading on implementation of Trust FOI policies and procedures,
providing advice and guidance to Trust staff and team leads on all FOI matters.
- Responsible for
developing and maintaining an FOI requests database.
- Provide regular
FOI briefings for Trust Directors and reports on FOI requests to relevant
committees, e.g., Information Governance Steering Group. There will be some
direct reviews of FOIs with the Company Secretary
- Assess the
information required and clarify, if necessary, with the applicant. Contact the
key contacts/Directorate holding the information and request information is
provided within a given timescale. Escalate any difficulties with
non-compliance to the Head of IG/Company Secretary.
- Draft and
prepare final letters/e-mails of response within the 20-working day statutory
timeframe together with informing whether the Trust cannot provide the
information requested, either because it does not exist, or they do not hold
it, or they estimate that it will take too long to collect it or consider that
an exemption should be applied.
