Job summary

We are delighted to invite applications for a full-time consultant in Palliative Medicine. The successful candidate will join three existing Palliative Medicine consultant posts employed by the Trust, forming a supportive team who provide inpatient and community care across the county, participating in a Cat A 1:7 on-call rota.

This post is based at St Richards Hospice in Worcester. The post-holder will work alongside the Hospice Clinical Director across Hospice inpatient services and an area of South Worcestershire community, and additionally will provide Specialist Palliative Care advice to the community hospitals in Worcester, Evesham, Malvern, Pershore and Tenbury.

There are ample opportunities to develop particular interests and a thriving ICS Palliative Network. We will provide you with resources to progress your career and a range of wellbeing support. Main duties of the job

Lead consultant for the St Richards Hospice community CNS team, including a weekly MDT meeting

Support and advice for an area of South Worcestershire. Includes domiciliary and outpatient consultations, remote consultations and telephone advice for patients and healthcare professionals.

Shared consultant leadership for up to 17 hospice in-patient beds including an inpatient MDT meeting and weekly ward round with advice to ward staff as needed.

Specialist palliative care advice for the community hospitals of Worcester, Pershore, Malvern and Evesham. Sites visited on a rotational basis to support care led by advanced clinical practitioners and Trust employed doctors.

Support and advice to the HWHCT employed CNS for the Tenbury area and community hospital

Supervision of non-medical prescribers and medical trainees, acting as educational/clinical supervisor as needed.

Teaching and training of healthcare professionals

Audit and quality improvement activity to promote SPC community based services
