Job summary

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a B6 Sexual Health Nurse to join the Worcestershire Sexual Health Service, to be based at Kidderminster Health Centre. The post holder will have considerable experience working within sexual health services and have competencies in GU Medicine and/or Contraception, this will include assessment, screening, diagnosing and treatment of those with sexually transmitted infections, whilst initiating/changing/repeating methods of contraception. This is an exciting time to join the service with many developments and opportunities. As a B6 Nurse you will support the Lead Nurse in managing the daily running of the clinic and managing the nursing team, ensuring a professional and competent nursing team and delivering a high quality service as well as creating and maintaining a positive learning environment.

The hours are 20.5 hours a week, to include one Saturday morning a month

To be based at Kidderminster Health Centre, although flexibility to cover clinics is required.

Main duties of the job

  • Work closely with the senior nurse and other members of the sexual health team to pro-actively facilitate development of sexual health nursing within the Sexual Health Service.
  • Provide specialist holistic nursing care working in nurse-led clinics as required. Prioritise consultations using triage systems.
  • Effective care provision through partnership working, provision of appropriate information, advice and support to patients to empower them to make informed choices about their treatment and care and lifestyle choices. Use evidence based nursing interventions which are timely and appropriate.
  • Employ effective partner notification strategies to ensure contact attendance and treatment.

  8. Work with sexual health colleagues to meet the requirements of the clinical governance agenda.
