Job summary
St Richards Hospice and Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust (HWHCT) are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic consultant in Palliative Medicine 0.8 WTE. Employed, line managed and clinically supervised by HWHCT, this post is funded by and based at St Richards Hospice, Worcester.
The post holder will join three Palliative Medicine consultants employed by the Trust, forming a supportive team who provide inpatient and community care across the county, participating in a Cat A 1:7 on-call rota. The successful candidate will work clinically across hospice inpatient services and an area of South Worcestershire community.
As clinical director they will be responsible for patients under the care of the hospice, providing leadership and line management to a team of experienced and junior doctors, and an active member of hospice management.

Main duties of the job
Shared consultant leadership for up to 17 in-patient beds at St Richards Hospice (SRH).
Consultant led inpatient unit MDT meeting and weekly ward round with advice to ward based staff as needed.
Support and advice to the SRH community CNS team and primary care teams for an area of South Worcestershire. This includes domiciliary and outpatient consultations, remote consultations and telephone advice
As Clinical Director:
Membership of St Richards Hospice management teams, working with the hospice heads of departments.
Supervision and line management of the Junior doctors on the SRH inpatient team, acting as educational or clinical supervisor as needed.
Supervision of non- medical prescribers.
Work alongside the head of education at St Richards Hospice to plan and deliver medical education to a variety of multi-professional staff.
Work alongside the clinical director for strategy and medical governance lead to support the ongoing evaluation and development of the clinical team at SRH.
