COMMUNITY REABLEMENT PEER SUPPORT ASSISTANT (MENTAL HEALTH)

Band 2

16 Hrs per week (subject to discussion at interview)

Fixed Term Contract of 18 months

LOCATION: Worcester covering the South of the County

This is a great opportunity to be part of the Countywide Reablement Service designed to promote social inclusion and recovery through improved access to community opportunities. We are looking for enthusiastic self-motivated people, who themselves have experienced recovery from mental ill health, to join the team. These Peer Support posts have been created to work alongside people as they move towards their chosen goals. As somebody who has experienced recovery yourself, you will be involved in giving others the confidence to progress on their chosen path. This could involve helping a person develop the confidence to use public transport, accompanying them to register for a college course, or working alongside them the first time they go to a volunteer placement.

This role requires you to have current right to work in the UK which enables you to undertake the role without need of sponsorship. Given the current UK immigration regulations this role is not eligible for sponsorship and therefore it is not possible for the Trust to sponsor applicants.

Interviews will be held on 27 September 2023

Main duties of the job

  • Support service users in accessing community groups and networks that enable participation in community and/or work activities, and to maximise service user's opportunities for socially valued roles and positive identity.
  • Assist service users to engage effectively with the agreed Reablement Plan and access appropriate services provided on a regular and consistent basis.
  • Promote and support greater independence for service users within the community.
  • Develop rapport based upon a shared understanding of the experience of mental ill health but within appropriate and transparent boundaries and to assist the clients in developing further relationships away from professional ones.
  • Provide regular and practical support to service users and in developing and managing dignity, independence and autonomy.
