Job summary

As part of the Government strategy of Ending Rough Sleeping for Good and the Rough Sleeping Drug and Alcohol Treatment Programme Grant (RSDATG), we are looking to recruit a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to provide a Rough Sleepers Psychology Service in Worcester City.

The post is a Band 8a, fixed term, part time (0.4 w.t.e.), working with, and supervising, a 1.0 w.t.e fixed term assistant psychologist. This post is initially commissioned until 31.03.24, with the possibility of this being extended to 31.03.25. At the end of this commissioned post there will be an option to join the NMHS AMH Psychology Services on a permanent basis.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be line managed and clinically supervised as part of the AMH NMHS. They will clinically supervise and work with an assistant psychologist to provide:

  • Timely, evidence based psychological assessment and treatment interventions to people who are, or at risk of, rough sleeping in Worcester City. This will be provided across various venues accessible to rough sleepers, e.g., Maggs Day Centre, St Pauls Hostel, Emerging Futures supported housing.
  • Regular clinical supervision, as required, to the teams involved in delivering this RSDATG funded services, i.e., peer mentors (Emerging Futures), outreach intervention (Cranston), counselling and mindfulness (St Pauls).
  • Provide training, advice, and guidance to the teams above.
  • Refer to mental health services and organise accessible appointments, e.g., at times and venues preferred by the people referred.
  • Attend and support the Worcester City rough sleeper multidisciplinary network, enabling the co-ordination of care plans for individuals supported through the project.

  • Post qualification training in specific, evidence based techniques for use with clients with complex psychological presentations and/or physical health difficulties, across the age span
  • Evidence of regular further professional training and experience as required by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the BPS
  • Eligible for registration as a Chartered Psychologist (Clinical or Counselling) by the BPS
