Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for a Band A Dental Officer to
work within the Worcestershire Community Dental Service on a 12month fixed term basis, providing
Urgent Dental Care.
We
are looking for an enthusiastic and caring clinician to join our Urgent Dental Care (UDC) Team,
primarily based at Kidderminster,
for four sessions per week. You may also be required to work at our Evesham and Worcester clinics to
support service provision.
The service operates Monday to Friday, 08:4517:00. The Job
Plan will be discussed and agreed upon as part of the interview process
following successful appointment to the post.
Our
Urgent Dental Care Service provides emergency and urgent dental treatment to
patients across Worcestershire, ensuring timely, safe, and patient-centred
care.
This is a fixed term post to provide cover for absence for specific
purpose that we anticipate will be required for 12 months. We reserve the right to end this contract
sooner with appropriate notice.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will benefit from a varied working
week which will include:
Urgent care clinics for patients who are unable
to access general dental practice and have been triaged with urgent dental
problems:
Diagnosing and managing acute dental pain and
dental trauma
Accessing and dressing teeth
Dental extractions
Patient referral into the Community Dental
Service if a patient meets the referral criteria
Onward referral to other specialist services as
required
You will work alongside the dental team, including
consultants, dental officers, specialty and core trainees, dental therapists
and dental nurses. You will be expected to become involved in audit and quality
governance.

- Previous experience of working as a full-time dentist in either GDS or CDS in UK
- Previous experience of working with special care groups
- Sound up-to-date clinical knowledge, based on current best evidence. This knowledge needs to include the management of special care patients
Desirable
- Experience of working in different settings within dental services such as general, hospital or community-based practice
- Use of an electronic dental record system
- Experience of undertaking clinical audit or service evaluation
Qualifications

- BDS/LDS degree
- Current registration on the UK General Dental Council
- Current membership of recognised protection society
- Completed VT training or equivalent or completed IQE/ORE
- On Performers List or eligible for performers List
- I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.

- Further relevant dental Qualifications, such as MJDF/MFDS
