Job summary
This is a fixed term post to provide cover for absence for specific
purpose that we anticipate will be required for 12 months. We reserve the right to end this contract
sooner with appropriate notice.
We
are looking for an enthusiastic and caring clinician to work within our
Paediatric Team in Evesham and Kidderminster.
You may also be required to work across our other clinics in Worcester,
Malvern, and Redditch as and when needed to meet service provision. The service
operates Monday to Friday, 8:4517:00.
There
may also be a requirement to support our Urgent Care Service. Referrals for
Urgent Care are received via our Central Triage Line and NHS 111. Urgent dental
care sessions run from 8:4512:30 and 13:3017:00 in Worcester, Kidderminster,
and Evesham.
We
are a ConsultantLed service providing dentistry to a wide range of patients,
including those requiring Paediatric and Special Care Dentistry. Several of our
clinics are equipped to provide dental treatment with inhalation and/or
intravenous sedation; the service also provides dental treatment under General
Anaesthesia at Kidderminster Hospital.
In
addition to providing care in our clinical settingsincluding urgent dental
carewe work with a wide range of organisations and specialist services to
deliver dental treatment to people in their own homes or care homes, as well as
providing oral health promotion, support, and advice across Worcestershire.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will benefit from a varied working
week which will include:
Surgery based clinics, assessing and treating
referred patients with additional and complex needs with support from
consultants and experienced senior dentists across Paediatric and Special Care
Dentistry
Urgent care clinics for patients who are unable
to access general dental practice and have been triaged with urgent dental
problems:
Diagnosing and managing acute dental pain and
dental trauma
Accessing and dressing teeth
Dental extractions
Patient referral into the Community Dental
Service if a patient meets the referral criteria
Onward referral to other specialist services as
required
The candidate will also have the opportunity
to provide the following:
Treatment under sedation
Provision of treatment under general anaesthesia
Provision of care in the domiciliary setting
Undertaking epidemiology data collection
You will work alongside the dental team, including
consultants, dental officers, specialty and core trainees, dental therapists
and dental nurses. You will be expected to become involved in audit and quality
governance.
