This is an exciting
opportunity for an innovative and experienced therapist to join the countywide
Worcestershire Adult Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) Service, which covers
Community Hospitals, Out-patient Clinics and Specialist Teams, with the aim of
providing the optimum evidence-based service for the people of Worcestershire.
This full time post will enable
us to enhance our Fast Response service by focussing on the next level of
urgency, urgent+, as well as helping us to reduce our waiting lists by
undertaking initial assessments under the guidance of Clinical Lead, as well as
working alongside experienced community colleagues. Clinically, you will
provide specialist assessment, diagnosis and case management for patients with
a range of communication disorders and dysphagia related to a variety of
diagnoses. You will have shared responsibility for a clinical caseload.
You will be integral to
the continued development of the Service into a high performing, well respected
provider of timely, safe and effective Speech and Language Therapy for our
patients and we require an ambitious and creative clinician who is self-driven,
and who also works well within a team. You will be supported with excellent
management and clinical supervision in this post, which is based in a clinic
located centrally in the county.

Main duties of the job
A
typical day will involve managing a caseload of urgent+ referrals in liaison
with the Clinical Lead, prioritising visits across the county, raising any
potential concerns regarding capacity and demand. You will also assist in
managing our waiting lists effectively working at a specialist level. There may
also be the opportunity to work clinically in inpatient settings.
You
will work independently in the assessment and management of patients with
communication and swallowing disorders, completing clinical documentation on
our electronic records system.
You
will formulate individual therapy programmes targeting realistic patient-led
goals, as well as offering support and education to carers/families.
You
will liaise with other members of the team and MDT colleagues; support student
placements; provide in service training for SLT colleagues and other
professions in areas related to SLT and participate in audits as required by
the service and the Trust.
You
will attend clinical and service meetings.
You
will receive training and supervision and will engage in self-directed
learning.
