Ward Clerk - Evesham Community Hospital

Job summary

A great opportunity has arisen for a Ward Clerk to join our team at Evesham Community Hospital. The post is for 30 hours over 5 days, working on Monday to Friday.

As a Ward Clerk you will be the first point of contact for families and visitors by greeting them to the Ward. Duties will include:

Ensuring all patient admissions, discharges, transfers are accurately recorded and entered onto the appropriate computerised system

To ensure that patient medical records are accurately inputted and kept in accordance with Directorate and Trust directive.

To be responsible for the booking and co-ordination of transport for patients being discharged if required.

You must be organised, able to work under pressure, and possess a flexible approach to duties. Ideally you will have experience of dealing with members of the public and have good interpersonal skills.

Support in covering the reception desk of the ward.

Support in covering the absence of other ward clerk colleagues.

Please note the Trust is unable to provide sponsorship to work for this role, to apply you must have current right to work in the UK status. If you are employed on an acceptable time limited visa, there is no guarantee of sponsorship at point of expiry.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for answering the ward telephone, admitting, anddischarging patients on the hospital computer systems and ensuringall patient demographic information is accurate.

Scanning and filing patient notes.

General clerical duties to support any of the wards and widerhospital team as required.

Ordering patient transport.

You will need to be able to work flexibly and apply a methodical approach to a varying workload in what can be a fast paced, pressurised environment.

You should be self-motivated, have excellent communication-interpersonal skills and have the ability to work on your own as well as part of a busy team where the work can be deadline driven and very much enjoy working in a clinical environment.

Previous clerical experience is desirable, administrative and keyboard skills would be an advantage. The successful candidate will need an excellent telephone manner and must be able to deal efficiently with members of the public and all disciplines of hospital staff.
