Specialist Doctor for Eating Disorders

Job summary

We are looking to recruit a dynamic, motivated Specialist Doctor to work within our Eating Disorders Team based at Studdert Kennedy House in Worcester for a 12 month fixed term post to cover maternity leave. The Eating Disorder Service is one of the Specialist Teams within the Primary Care and Community Mental Health Services SDU. It accepts referrals for people aged from 17.5 years and up. Currently, interventions are provided for Anorexia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, Bulimia Nervosa, Other Specified Feeding and Eating Disorders (OSFED) and Severe and Enduring Eating Disorders (SEED). The team consists of a Clinical Lead, Psychiatrist, Dietician, Psychologist, Assistant Psychologist, Community Support Workers and an ACP in Training, with support from dedicated administration staff.

Worcestershire is a mixed rural and urban county of over 500 square miles and around million population. It covers the City of Worcester together with the towns of Kidderminster, Stourport, Bewdley, Tenbury Wells, Bromsgrove, Redditch, Droitwich, Evesham, Pershore, Malvern and Upton upon Severn. Worcestershire offers excellent living and working prospects. Nearby are the Wye Valley, the Forest of Dean; the Malvern Hills; and the Brecon Beacons National Park; with easy access to the M5 and M50.

Main duties of the job

The post is full-time and amounts to 10 programmed activities, working 9.00am to 5.00pm, 5 days per week. A provisional job plan is as follows:

Out-patient work/home visits 5 PAs per week

Multi-disciplinary team meeting and support for team members outside the meeting 1 PA per week.

Emergency clinical work 1 PA per week.

Mental Health Act work/complex patient reviews 1.0PA per week. With support as appropriate.

Supporting professional activities 2.0PA.

Interventions are in line with NICE Guidelines, MEED Guidelines from the Royal College of Psychiatrists and also incorporate Compassion Focussed approaches. Psychological interventions are 1:1 with a 12 week Introductory Skills Group and 12 week Binge Eating Disorder Online program also offered.
