An exciting opportunity has arisen to work with our medical and dental workforce as the Head of Operations for the Medical Directorate. The Head of Operations will work closely with the Chief Medical Officer and Associate Medical Directors on strategic and operational delivery to ensure a safe and effective medical and dental workforce. The Head of Operations also has line management responsibility of the Medical Directorate Support Team and the Mental Health Act Administration Team and will lead the teams to ensure polices and processes are followed and implement news ways of working that support the medics and dentists across the Trust in a responsive way that supports clinical delivery.

Applicant should have a good work ethic, enjoy a challenge and be able to work to their own initiative as well as having a strong background in leadership.

The role is based at Kings Court 2 in Worcester and requires office working full time over 5 days per week.

Main duties of the job

  • Lead on business continuity of the medical and dental service provision in the Service Delivery Units by working closely with the Deputy Medical Director, Associate Medical Directors and Clinical Directors.
  • Lead specific projects contributing to the business objectives of the Medical Directorate as directed by the Medical Director both at local, regional, and national levels.
  • Provide direct line management of the Medical Directorate Support Team.
  • Support the Director of Medical Education and Tutors with delivery of high-quality trainee placements in the Trust and associated functions.
  • Be a member of the Senior Leadership Team of the Medical Directorate and the Trust and work in collaboration with the other corporate departments such as Finance, Human Resources and Learning and Development.
  • Ensure that the Medical Directorate operate within budget and meet all key performance/quality indicators eg; Agency reduction targets and cost improvement programmes.
  • Contribute to the strategic development of the Medical Directorate and to lead on specific projects relating to redesign/improvement eg; University of Worcester
