Practitioner Psychologist/Psychological Therapist

Job summary

This post is only open to current employees of the Trust.

An exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Psychological therapist or appropriately qualified cognitive behavioural / EMDR therapist to work within the Herefordshire specialist perinatal mental health team. This is a two day a week (15 hours) post.

You will work within a highly motivated and supportive community multi-disciplinary team providing psychological support as key professional to clients with mental health difficulties in the perinatal period.

The post holder will receive professional management from Team Lead and clinical supervision from the Principal Psychologist You will participate in other MDT activities such as group work, case reflection and delivery of education sessions. There will also be opportunities to attend Trustwide psychology meetings and other professional development activities.

This is a fixed term post to provide cover for absence for specific purpose that we anticipate will be required for 9 months. We reserve the right to end this contract sooner with appropriate notice.

Main duties of the job

Working within the Herefordshire Perinatal team to provide psychological therapies on an individual and group basis

Working as part of the team providing assessment and interventions

Contributing to team processes including supervision, educational opportunities , reflective practice

Clinical work involves provision of psychological assessment and intervention to support physical and mental health and well-being during this crucial life transition. With a perinatal frame of mind, we also focus on the experience of the baby, the parent-child relationship, as well as other members of the family system.

  • Post Graduate doctoral level training in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent Applied Psychology qualification), as accredited by the B.P.S
  • Registered as Practitioner Psychologist with the HCPC or equivalent e.g. a recorded / registered qualification in one of the following - nursing, social work, occupational therapy, arts therapy or a psychological therapy Plus Further post graduate qualification OR training and experience in a relevant model of psychological therapy that meets accreditation training standards, Significant experience working as a psychological therapist in mental health services with people over the age of 18 years and demonstrating the required competences Is a member of a professional body, such as BABCP, BPS, NMC upon commencement of the post
  • I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.

  • Experience of maintaining working relationships and a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse, and the threat of physical aggression
