Job summary
This exciting post is for a lead
occupational therapist to support and develop a team of staff delivering therapies
to patients across the Elgar site in Worcester. Elgar consists of a 9-bed Psychiatric
Intensive Care Unit, a 16-bed acute ward, and a 14-bed acute ward all mixed
genders
The role requires the post
holder to work core hours of Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, but there may be occasional
instances where this varies based on service need. There is an opportunity to
discuss flexible working hours to support the post holder.
The team consists of allied
health professionals (OT and some physio), as well as OT assistants, and
activity workers, allocated to each inpatient ward. The role of the lead is to
provide consistent supervision, support and operational leadership and engage
with the senior staff across the Service Delivery Unit in strategically and
clinically advancing the service provision for some of our most vulnerable
citizens.
Main duties of the job
To ensure that up to date
written and electronic records and activity data are maintained in accordance
with Professional and Trust standards and provide specialist AHP reports
relevant to practice setting.
To provide day-to-day
management of In-patient Therapies staff including support staff, through
supervision and appraisal.
To provide
line management and guidance to staff in the Working Age Adult in-patient
Allied Health Professional Therapy Service.
To manage a caseload of
patients with highly complex mental health needs.
To lead clinically on the
management of patients with highly complex need providing guidance and advice
for other therapies staff where multiple needs are identified.
To plan and implement patient
centred individual and/or group interventions, using graded treatments to
achieve holistic therapeutic goals.
To manage a therapy programme
within the inpatient setting following recovery model and to lead and
coordinate the provision of occupational therapy to in-patient services.
