Job summary
We are seeking an individual to join our dynamic Worcestershire Integrated Sexual Health Service (WISH).
We are looking to recruit a motivated, and enthusiastic Band 5 Sexual Health Nurse with the potential to develop to Band 6 Sexual Health Nurse/Health Advisor on completion of both GUM and Contraception training. If you already meet the criteria as a Band 6 Sexual Health Nurse/Health Advisor do still apply for consideration. The post holder will join our existing team of professionals and be responsible for the provision and delivery of high-quality Sexual Health care to patients attending The Arrowside Unit, Redditch. The role will provide comprehensive nurse-led Integrated Sexual Health care. It will also involve working closely with the Trust Safeguarding Team and partner agencies.
You will continue to develop your clinical skills with support of the service to become a competent practitioner in both Genitourinary Medicine and Reproductive Health. On successful completion, opportunity to develop to a Band 6 Sexual Health Nurse/ Health Advisor will be made available.
Successful applicants should have excellent communication skills and be able to work as part of team. The post-holder will need to be flexible and may be required to work some weekends and evenings.
It is essential that applicants can meet the travel requirements of the post.
This is full time post, but we would consider applicants looking for part time.
Main duties of the job
Behave consistently with the values and beliefs of the organisation and promote these on a day-to-day basis.
Use initiative and take responsibility for quality of work and the service provided to patients.
Support the clinical lead to manage the operational requirements of the service.
Provide evidence-based holistic specialist sexual health care for patients attending sexual health clinics, which includes genitourinary medicine and contraception and reproductive health care, either face to face or by telephone.
Assess, diagnose, and treat genital conditions, using diagnostic microscopy techniques and supply medicines under PGDs.
Assess contraception needs and eligibility and supply hormonal methods of contraception.
Work with vulnerable young people and adults, being able to analyse complex facts or situations and exercise professional judgment, following safeguarding procedures.
Be responsible for contributing to the development of nursing and professional practice.
May be required to work some unsocial hours, including some Saturdays.
May be required to work in other sexual health clinics or services across WiSH.
