Job summary

Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health & Care Trust are looking for a junior Occupational Therapist to join our inpatient rehabilitation team at the Princess of Wales Community Hospital.

This is a fixed term post until 31st April 2026 but has potential to become a permanent rotational post.

The team provide assessment, rehabilitation and discharge planning for inpatients across 2 wards with a strong focus on frailty, geriatrics, dementia and complex social needs.

We are an integrated team; with Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy working in tandem within a multidisciplinary team of nurses, ACPs, social workers and specialist teams.

We operate a 6 day service, Monday Saturday, with weekend shifts worked on a rota basis.

We can offer preceptorship support for newly graduates as well as on the job training, career development opportunities and specialist teaching. We have close links with local Universities with the opportunity for practice education and regularly support student placements.

This post would suit a newly qualified or an experienced band 5 therapist looking to develop their skills and knowledge.

Main duties of the job

The roles will involve patient assessment and delivery of occupational therapy interventions to the population of Worcestershire in a variety of clinical settings.

You will be required to assess, treat, and manage a caseload of patients within each service specialty. To assist with case load management of the wider MDT or specific individual service requirements.

We would expect you to contribute to high quality, patient-centred care using evidence-based knowledge and skill. There will also be an opportunity to assist with service development, and to teach and supervise other clinicians and students and help to shape the future workforce.
