This exciting post is for a senior occupational
therapist to lead a team of allied health staff delivering support to patients
across the Stonebow Unit in Hereford. The Stonebow Unit consists of a 20-bed
Adult Ward, 10-bed Organic ward and an 8-bed functional older adult ward.
The role requires the post holder to work core
hours of Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, but there may be occasional instances
where this varies based on service need. There is an opportunity to discuss
flexible working hours to support the post holder.
The team consists of allied health
professionals (OT, OT assistants activity coordinator, psychology and physio.
The role of the lead is to provide consistent supervision, support and
operational leadership and engage with the senior staff across the Service
Delivery Unit in strategically and clinically advancing the service provision
for some of our most vulnerable citizens.
Main duties of the job
To manage a caseload of
patients with highly complex mental health needs.
To lead clinically on the
management of patients with highly complex need providing guidance and advice
for other therapies staff where multiple needs are identified.
To work with patients to
identify therapy goals as part of the overall care plan, using specialist
mental health and Allied Health professional therapy assessment tools.
To manage patients with
challenging behaviour, engage with them in assessment, individual treatment or
within therapeutic groups and to provide guidance to junior staff.
To contribute to patients care
plan, risk assessment and management plan.
To identify risks within the
therapies area relating to individual patients or the activities taking place
and to implement plans to manage the identified risks.
To plan and implement patient
centred individual and/or group interventions, using graded treatments to
achieve holistic therapeutic goals.
To monitor, evaluate and modify
treatment in order to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of
intervention.
To assess and analyse the
therapy needs of a defined patient group and establish and evaluate appropriate
treatment programmes.
To manage a therapy programme
within the inpatient setting following recovery model and to lead and
coordinate the provision of occupational therapy to in-patient services.
To carry out home and community
assessments and treatments.
