We have an exciting opportunity, for a band 7 Ward
Manager at Pershore Community Hospital who will provide clinical leadership on person-centred
care to our patients, the majority of whom are elderly. The post is 37.5 hours
a week, working Monday-Friday.
You will have a special interest in caring for and
communicating with elderly patients. Our nurses are expected to give excellent
care, to be compassionate and to communicate effectively with our patients and
their carers to keep them fully involved and informed. You will also have
mentorship skills and enjoy teaching.
Pershore

Main duties of the job
Work consistently with the

Be expected to lead and manage
a designated hospital ward. They will be responsible for the ward budget and
have overall responsibility for the line management of staff within the ward.
The role will require a high level of leadership and utilisation of motivational,
innovation and change management skills.
Be an experienced
clinician/therapist and be responsible for providing expert knowledge and
skills to more junior members of the team and for the provision of more complex
care planning and care provision.
Be an integral member of the
ward team and will work collaboratively with all services and agencies, to
facilitate patients in achieving maximum independence. This will be achieved
through a combination of education, support and expert clinical knowledge.
Working with the patient to assess, plan and implement appropriate packages of
care.
Have continuing responsibility
for the designated ward.

Job responsibilities
Carry the management and
leadership responsibilities for a ward/department, including liaison with other
agencies and, where appropriate, the supervision, delegation and teaching of
staff and/or students, patients and carers.
Oversee the management of a
defined caseload/s.
Ensure that the ward team works
closely with all Primary Care team members and others concerned with patient
care.
Ensure that admission and
discharge planning practice is undertaken in accordance with good practice
policy and guidance.
Ensure safe and effective
deployment of nursing staff in the ward at all times taking into account off
duty and leave.
Effectively manage the ward
budget and promote new initiatives for effective and efficient use of the team,

Undertake and participate in
recruitment and selection procedures within the team and in appropriate areas
of the Trust.
Undertake annual Staff
Appraisal and Development Reviews with team members.

Monitor and evaluate standards
of patient care, seeking to continuously improve the quality of care across the
team.
Provide nursing or therapy
expertise to patients, staff and other professionals.
Ensure that care provided
