Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced mental health clinician with a passion for working within Urgent Care to join us as a Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner and be part of the Crisis and Home Treatment Teams (CAHTT) across Hereford City and Market Towns. You will be shaping our services and ensuring that our patients and service users get expert care focused on recovery and independence. Once successfully qualified, the post holder will advance to Band 8a Advanced Clinical Practitioner.

You will receive:

  • Protected study time in the pursuit of the completion of the ACP qualification.
  • There will also be access to regular supervision with a Consultant psychiatrist and the organisations non-medical prescribers forum.
  • Flexible working Monday to Friday. No weekends and no bank holidays.
  • The opportunity to take a lead in the clinical development of this new role within an evolving team.

The post holder will be a Registered Healthcare Professional, who is agreeable to undertaking an apprenticeship in Advanced Clinical Practice (or equivalent at MSc level to be agreed as part of the application process) which must be completed at a West Midlands-based university.

Main duties of the job

You will work in partnership with the service Lead, delivering robust clinical leadership alongside their operational leadership and contributing to the development of this dynamic service. You will receive regular protected time for shadowing and studying opportunities; as an adult learner, this will be for you to arrange as required.

You will work independently assessing, diagnosing and treating patients with urgent mental health needs in the community, making complex decisions and keeping collaboration and patient choice at the heart of what you do.

Alongside colleagues from the multi-disciplinary Crisis and Home Treatment Team, you will lead in the assessment and treatment of complex patients. You will work closely with partners across Primary and Secondary Care to ensure the most appropriate input is delivered in the most appropriate location. We work in partnership with other organisations such as social care, acute healthcare and voluntary organisations, to support the mental wellbeing of patients in the most holistic of senses.

You will be delivering care in new and innovative ways-the role will be well suited to evidencing all four pillars of advanced practice and time will be provided to work on quality improvement.

Where appropriate, you will be expected to share your expertise and knowledge with other services/colleagues and act as a supervisor/mentor.
