Job summary

Do you have a passion for working with Children and young people. Come and join our team delivering an excellent level of care in a rewarding environment to children with learning disabilities. We have recently been rated as Good by Ofsted.

We provide respite and short stays for children up to the age of 18 years across 2 bungalows with up to 9 children staying at any one time. You will be working as part of a wider team supporting children to live their best lives in a fun and fulfilling environment.

We are a 7 day service and you will be working a range of shifts including evenings, weekends and nights. We have the ability to be flexible to make sure this works for you.

We can offer you a range of benefits, training and progression opportunities within the service to enhance your knowledge and skills. You will be required to complete a Level 3 Diploma in residential childcare. You will be fully supported to do this within work time.

Main duties of the job

You will be required to support the children with personal care needs, moving and handling, supporting them at mealtimes, as well as helping them to participate in a range of leisure activities, socialising and making new friends. You will be responsible for supervising and monitoring the children throughout your shift and to make sure that the service provides a welcoming, safe, stimulating and fun environment for the children to stay in.

You will need good verbal and written communication. The role involves regular communication with families, as well as other professionals such as social workers and school staff. You will need to have basic IT skills in order to access various IT systems and document care provided, but additional training can be provided if needed. Ideally you will have had experience in supporting people with learning disabilities, but we would be more than happy to support anyone who is new to this field. The most important thing is that you have the right values and want to support children with learning disabilities and their families.
