Job summary

Occupational Therapist Band 5 37.5 hours

Due to investment in our service we are looking for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our friendly Childrens Occupational Therapy team in Worcestershire. The successful candidate will be working alongside a dynamic team of OTs, Assistant Practitioners, Physiotherapists and administrators providing a community service to children and young people with a variety of needs. The post holder would be based at either The Beacon Centre in Worcester or Princess of Wales Hospital in Bromsgrove and will be required to travel across other sites. The service works closely with mainstream and special schools, the multi-disciplinary team and our local authority. Our service also includes assessment and provision of specialist equipment and minor adaptations therefore knowledge of these areas is desirable.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team and develop skills in Community Paediatrics. We offer a variety of opportunities for learning, CPD, multi-disciplinary working and have a strong focus on supervision.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of this role includes:

Holding a varied caseload completing assessments and interventions for children and young people with OT needs that meet our criteria.

Being able to identify children and young peoples OT needs, identify required provision and expected outcomes to inform care plans using a goal setting approach.

To supervise and support other members of the therapy service including assistant practitioners and students.

Having excellent verbal and written communication skills to support the childs occupational performance needs in collaboration with the family and multi-disciplinary team. Experience of report writing and completing care plans and outcomes is desirable.

Experience of utilising electronic patient record systems and having the ability to adapt to different IT programmes.

Knowledge of assessments and treatment options typically used with children and a clear understanding of the evidence base.

Application of policies and legislation related to children, young people and families including safeguarding children.
