Occupational Therapist-Integrated Community Stroke Service

Information:

This job is now closed

Job summary

If you are a newly qualified OT with a passion for supporting stroke survivors, we really want to hear from you. We are passionate about delivering a high-quality Integrated Community Stroke Service and improving the quality of life for Stroke Survivors.

An opportunity has become available for a Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join our expanding team. If you are a great team player, innovative, an excellent communicator and have perhaps done a community or inpatient stroke rehab placement that you really enjoyed, then this might be the role for you.

The job would be part or full time over 7 days on a rota system covering the county of Worcestershire. We support flexible working, and the Trust is excellent in supporting well-being.

As a trust we offer a robust induction period and continue to promote opportunities for development through 1:1 supervision session, peer working and in-service training. You will be fully supported by the Clinical Lead for OT, Team Lead, Band 6 OTs and wider team to develop your skills and knowledge in this area.

Main duties of the job

Day to day, you will initially be undertaking comprehensive assessments of mild-moderate stroke patients, using specialist OT assessment tools to identify their personalised goals alongside the MDT. Once your skills have developed, you will also be engaged with the more complex/severe stroke survivors.

With support, you will start to formulate individual programmes of rehabilitation using clinical reasoning and utilising a range of treatment skills, targeting realistic and measurable, patient-led goals. It is also expected that you will offer support and education to carers/families.

You will attend the weekly MDT in which the team will discuss the progress of patients and identify goals that are achieved and ongoing. You will also liaise with other health care professionals within the Trust/Acute Trust and surrounding borders and with third-party service providers.
