Job summary

This is an exciting time within Worcestershire CAMHS, an opportunity has arisen to recruit Senior Mental Health practitioners into Tier 3 Core CAMHS service to work across a selection of locations across Worcestershire. The service is under going significant development with additions of new pathways such as Non Violent Resistance (NVR) complimenting the already established CBT and DBT pathways, Specialist Family therapy offer, Psychotherapy pathway, under 5s services whilst working closely with our other CAMHS specialist teams such as Childrens eating disorder team, Anchor, Mental Health Support teams in schools and the Crisis and Home treatment team . There are significant opportunities for training and development for staff with new staff working through an induction and training plan within the first 12 months with robust supervision provided.

The service is working towards becoming a neurodivergent affirming service and the Trust is a Trauma Informed organisation.

This post has been deemed by the Trust as eligible for relocation expenses which will be applicable for suitable successful candidate(s). Please see attached policy for more information

Main duties of the job

You would work clinically within the Worcestershire Core CAMHS service. You will assess young people who have been referred into the service, complete therapeutic (partnership) work with a designated caseload, attend MDT meetings, team meetings, provide consultation and advice to other professionals and attend statutory & mandatory training. You will work alongside wider CAMHS services where required and can be part of service developments and provide supervision and shadowing opportunities to new or more newly qualified staff.

You will be based at one of the following sites, Aconbury (Worcester hospital site), Kidderminster Health Centre or Redditch Town hall. We endeavour to assign you to a base that best suits your personal circumstances however at times travel will be required to other bases, this will be paid as part of the Trust claiming expenses policy.

The trust offer flexible working opportunities with this post considering applicants who are interested in working between 22 37.5 hours a week.

Job responsibilities

Duties in your role would include offering mental health assessments and care planning/treatment for moderate to severe mental health illnesses that are experienced by those aged under 18 years. Robust MDT processes will support you and your clinical decision making in relation to the children and young people you assess. As a senior colleague you will have opportunity to offer clinical supervision to others as well as offering mentorship to band 5 colleagues, students and trainees. You are expected to engage in clinical supervision and be able to communicate with children, young people, families and partner agencies both verbally and in writing to promote mental health recovery. We are a countywide service with some cross county working.

You will hold a caseload of children and young people experiencing varying levels of complexity, demonstrating awareness of how moderate to severe mental health difficulties affect children and young people. You would work with experienced clinicians and provide assessment and intervention to children and young people to promote mental health recovery.

You will undertake risk assessments and risk management of individuals presenting with vulnerability, self-harm and/or physical, sexual or emotional harm to themselves or others. You would need to manage and respond to the distress of others and access additional support and advice when needed.

You will work closely with other members of MDTs and liaise with partnership agencies supporting interventions that are evidence based and meet the needs of the young person. You would work with autonomy and initiative with the limits of your knowledge, experience and professional training, attending clinical and management supervision, and working collaborative as part of the MDT.
