Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an appropriately qualified and experienced individual to join the Safeguarding Team as a Specialist Nurse for Safeguarding Children.

We are a cohesive and dedicated safeguarding team, committed to improving outcomes for vulnerable children/young people ensuring that their voice is heard.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated nurse who can demonstrate initiative and has significant post registration underpinned by skills and knowledge in safeguarding children.

Main duties of the job

  • Be a source of advice and expertise on all safeguarding children matters to all staff at the point of need across Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare (HRCH)
  • Promote good practice and effective communication within and between trusts and all agencies on all matters relating to the protection of children
  • Working with the Safeguarding Team, the Specialist Nurse Safeguarding Children will ensure that arrangements are in place for safeguarding children supervision and training of all staff involved in providing services to children and families and adults at risk who are parents or carers and/or who may pose a risk to children
  • Working with the Safeguarding Team ensure that safeguarding children is an integral part of the HRCH's risk management strategy and that key staff are aware of the thresholds for triggering child protection enquiries and an assessment of risk
  • To assist in HRCH internal case reviews
  • To assist the Named Nurse in developing, monitoring and reviewing health services specifications and standards for child protection practice
  • To assist the Named Nurse in ensuring there are effective systems of child protection audit to monitor the application of agreed child protection standards
