Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a highly motivated band 6 Children's Asthma Nurse nurse to our integrated Children's Community Nursing Service.
This role focuses on using expert clinical knowledge and experience to provide specialist support and advice on relevant pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions to assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual treatment / interventions and asthma plans based on robust evidence. The post holder will work alongside our band 7 specialist Asthma nurse to be a source for other professionals within the borough and support those delivering asthma care. Through providing specialist support on the chronic management of asthma, you will educate other professionals within the community, primary care network and local education settings, to empower children and young people, and their parents and carers , to manage their condition on a day-to-day basis to improve quality of life, improve outcomes and help prevent avoidable hospital admissions.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will need to be flexible, have excellent communication skills, be able to work independently but have the ability to work as a team player. As the post holder will be supported to gain the necessary qualifications, knowledge and skills for the post.
As a senior nurse you be able to demonstrate good organisational skills and you will be responsible for overseeing the smooth delivery of the asthma service whilst working as part of the the wider CCN team.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders, the local Integrated Care Board (ICB), GP's, Acute and Primary Trusts and wider members of the multi-disciplinary team, to promote seamless working and achieve the best outcomes for children/young people with asthma and their families.
Safeguarding is a fundamental part of the role and requires a sound knowledge base to safely manage the caseload and support junior staff.This post requires you to hold a Full UK driving licence and have access to the use of a car.
