Advancing Patient Safety in Digital Healthcare

Location:Group role working across Isle of Wight Trust (IWT) and Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust (PHU)

Salary:Band 7 (£46,148 £52,809 per annum, dependent on experience)Contract Type:PermanentHours:Full-time

Main duties of the job

  • Lead and coordinate clinical risk assessments for digital health systems and services.
  • Ensure compliance with NHS Digital clinical safety standards (DCB 0129 and DCB 0160).
  • Collaborate with clinical, digital, and operational stakeholders to implement robust safety strategies.
  • Maintain comprehensive clinical safety documentation, including hazard logs, safety cases and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Provide expert guidance on clinical risk management and patient safety.
  • Champion a culture of safety, learning, and continuous improvement across the organisation.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Nursing or Allied Health Professional degree or diploma with appropriate statutory professional body registration
  • Post graduate learning to Masters level or equivalent
  • Membership of NHSD Clinical Safety Officer community of interest
  • Training in risk assessment and safety management of clinical information systems
  • Must be willing to participate in any relevant training identified to develop skills required to carry out duties
  • Teaching, training or mentorship qualification or experience to an equivalent level
  • Maintains a portfolio of CPD in line with regulatory body standards
  • Leadership and management qualification

Experience

Essential

  • Highly specialist assessment, planning and evaluation skills demonstrated in clinical experience
  • Highly developed specialist clinical knowledge to support the development and use of digital technology, including electronic patient records, across a range of clinical settings
  • Advanced verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills including communicating complex information to others and managing conflict when appropriate
  • Experience of leading the application of clinical governance and quality measures in practice
  • Experience of project management from inception to completion.

  • Registered Healthcare Professional with up to date professional registration (e.g., Nurse, Allied Health Professional, Pharmacist); In-depth knowledge of NHS clinical safety standards, particularly DCB 0129 and DCB 0160.
