Job responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of the post-holder require service delivery in a wide range of clinical environments, as well as to a diversity of patient presentations.

Radiographers will be required to work unsocial hours according to rota, but under supervision.

The service is run on a general service and on call basis and includes working in areas such as the Emergency Department, Theatre, inpatient areas, Neonatal Unit and Intensive Care Unit, CT scanning and interventional suites within Radiology. Patient presentation will include the unconscious, uncooperative, incapacitated, incompetent, disorientated and those with physical and mental disabilities. A wide variety of patients will be encountered and will include those exhibiting anti-social or threatening behaviour including both un-convicted and legally convicted e.g. prisoners.

Other influencing factors include the skills needed to provide patients or relatives with empathy and emotional support for the bereaved, terminally ill, injured, traumatised or those altered by substance use/abuse.

  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
