We are recruiting for a Deputy Sister / Charge Nurse who wishes to join #TeamIOWNHS. You should share our passion and drive to ensure that our patients receive quality and compassionate care and work with us to ensure the Trust continues its journey towards "great people, great place".

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Registered Nurse to enhance our forward-thinking teams on Level C, Alverstone and Luccombe as the Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse.

We are looking for someone who is well organised with a professional and approachable manner and that has excellent communication skills. You should be able to use your own judgement to resolve issues, have a tactful, sensitive approach to people and have excellent team working skills.

You need to be able to perform well under pressure with a flexible approach to your shift pattern as it will include a mixture of days and nights alongside the other deputy sisters/charge nurses.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant must have an interest in orthopaedics, trauma and general surgery, must be hard working, motivated, enthusiastic, and reliable.

The post involves working with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and you will need to be organised, dynamic and able to prioritise your workload and lead junior members of the team. You will also be required to deputise for the ward sister in her absence.

  • Registered Nurse with live NMC Pin 1st Degree or willingness to complete within 3 years of appointment
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Teaching qualification (e.g ENB 998 or mentorship qualification
  • To be able to provide evidence of knowledge and skills to post grad level in the following areas:
  • Able to make judgements based on evidence based practice and translate this for use in the ward environment
