The role will be to provide a comprehensive kitchen service, ensuring a well-run and maintained kitchen, whilst adhering to health and safety compliance and cleanliness standards. Responsible to the Senior Catering and Commercial Services Manager, you will ensure the safe, legal, and effective production of food in the Trust's Central Kitchen.
You will directly manage a team including the Head Chefs, Kitchen Porters and Multi-skilled Kitchen Assistants. This will include briefings, training and generally supporting the management of staff.
Main duties of the job
Our Catering Service is seven days a week, your role will be to ensure appropriate arrangements are always in place to provide effective service. Directly managing the Kitchen, you will be responsible for the quality of the service, its legislative compliance and financial efficiency.
As a pivotal part of the Kitchen Management team, you will be working alongside the Catering Front-of-House and Compliance Managers providing support and cover for each other, both routinely for rostered days off and for annual leave or other absences. This will require regularly performing duties of your colleagues (Catering Compliance and Front of House Managers), including the provision of line management to staff normally reporting to other members of the Catering Management team.
You will be a Responsible Person for ensuring compliance with the Food Safety Regulations (England) 2013 Regulations, liaising directly with the Local Authority Environmental Health Officers for this purpose.
Our core service hours are 06:30-19:30, Monday to Sunday. Shift working will be necessary to ensure appropriate management cover across these times. There will also be occasions where you will be required to deputise for the Senior Catering and Commercial Services Manager.
