We are recruiting for a Band 6 Specialist Occupational Therapist (Acute Inpatient)who wishes to join #TeamIOWNHS. This exciting role is a fantastic opportunity to develop Specialist Occupational Therapy skills both within the in-patient setting and as services look to the future with supporting the Discharge to Assess (D2A) model of working across the Island within our Integrated Health & Social Care Occupational Therapy Department. This post will be working with MDT colleagues as part of a Cluster of Acute Therapists.
Main duties of the job
You will need to have:
- Relevant qualifications and current registration with H.C.P.C
- Current clean, full driving license
- A combination of relevant skills, experience and knowledge in a wide range of conditions and settings (desirable to have experience of working autonomously)
- Ability to provide leadership for staff and students.
- Drive to contribute to the development of the Occupational Therapy Service
- Demonstrated high-level written and oral (including telephone) communication skills
- Self-motivation and ability to work in a team environment
- Knowledge and understanding of the application of quality care and evidence based practice to Occupational Therapy
- Demonstrated high level of organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work within the Values and Visions framework of the Isle of Wight NHS Trust
This post will be supported through leadership of a Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist & Clinical Team Lead and the wider Integrated Occupational Therapy Service. We provide an excellent clinical supervision programme, active continuing professional development forum, service development working parties and actively support student placements from Southampton University.
The Occupational Therapy service on the Isle of Wight is a large team of motivated driven practitioners who strive for best practice standards. There will be opportunities for participation in research and development of services.

We have also been working with other local NHS Trusts across our region to create a new organisation, bringing together all community, mental health and learning disability services from across Hampshire and Isle of Wight. Subject to approvals, the aim is for the new Trust - Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust - to be formed by April 2024.
People employed in our community, mental health and learning disability services by the Isle of Wight NHS Trust on 31 March 2024, will transfer to the new organisation under Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) on 1 April 2024.
The Isle of Wight NHS Trust will continue to deliver both acute and ambulance services for the island population.
