Job summary

We are recruiting for a General Radiology Superintendent Radiographer with NHS experience who wishes to join #TeamIOWNHS. This is a truly exciting time to join our team as we work towards launching our newly developed £10m Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) that will deliver first-class diagnostic care to our community.

The new centre will have the ability to deliver joined up diagnostic care, and with increased capacity this will ensure our patients will have faster access to treatment, earlier diagnosis, and improved outcomes.

To assume responsibility/line management on a daily basis for the General Radiology department and staff consisting of Reporting Radiographers and Radiographers, Radiographic Helpers, Radiographic students of varying numbers.

To work within the main x-ray department, which comprises of 4 digital x-ray room, and also Theatre and portable Radiography which consist of 3 image intensifier units, 6 mobile units, North x-ray department, which comprises of, 1 general x-ray room, 1 specialised dental x-ray room

To be responsible for pre-purchase appraisal and selection of general x-ray equipment for General Radiology at St. Mary's Hospital and peripheral sites.

Main duties of the job

To lead in the implementation of the care group strategy within the service, including service planning, team evaluation and skills mix review, staffing levels assessment and role redesign, demonstrating an awareness of service improvement methods and evaluation.

To ensure effective and efficient use of allocated resources to provide a service organised around the needs of patients, carers and business.

To provide strong and effective leadership to develop clinical services in the areas of designated responsibility.

To take responsibility for appropriate policy development, including impact evaluation within the service and, where relevant, throughout the Trust, including care group targets and KPIs.

To undertake appropriate research, audit and service review in order to implement effective, evidence-based service delivery.

To be open, honest and follow the spirit of the duty of candour at all times.
