Job summary

We are recruiting for Part-Time Peer Support Workers who wish to join #TeamIOWNHS within the Community Mental Health Team. You should share our passion and drive to ensure that our patients receive quality and compassionate care and work with us to ensure the Trust continues its journey towards "great people, great place".

The role of Peer Support Worker will use their own personal experiences of managing mental health and recovery, to provide hope, empathy and a different practical perspective through support, dialogue and acting as a role model.

The post holder will use their personal experiences of recovery from mental health challenges to offer empathy and understanding to others, inspiring hope and belief that recovery is possible.

In this role, the peer worker will offer empathetic support alongside practical assistance in order to empower people to feel in control of their lives and their own unique recovery process. Within a relationship of mutuality and information sharing, they will promote choice, self-determination and opportunities for the fulfilment of socially valued roles and connection to local communities.
