Main duties of the job
Clinical Duties
The below is subject to requirements of the individual service(s) the successful applicant will be working within.
Attendance at ward
Medical leadership to the multidisciplinary ward team.
Medical/psychiatric assessments for care planning and risk assessment
Formulation and delivery of appropriate pharmacological and psychological interventions to aid recovery.
Completion of administrative tasks necessary for clinical responsibilities.
Writing of Mental Health Review Tribunal Reports or reports to other agencies.
Liaison with members of other teams to transfer patients into and out of inpatient service.
Attendance at ward team meetings, incl. formulation reviews, professionals' meetings, patient review MDT meetings, and pre-discharge planning meetings.
The post holder will have one hour per week personal supervision with the Consultant, additional to daily clinical supervision. The content will be decided by mutual agreement.
There is an eucational programme of weekly training events on Wednesdays am.
The post holder will be encouraged to conduct a Quality Improvement Project (QIP) or Audit.

This appointment is for a full time Clinical Fellow in Psychiatry on Stanage Ward. The post holder will be responsible for providing medical cover at the Michael Carlisle Centre in Sheffield.
This will be a fixed term post until 4th August 2026.
The post holder shall have completed at least 12 months full-time foundation training or equivalent experience.
The successful applicant will be based at the primary site for the ward. The post holder will have office accommodation, with IT support for e-mail, internet access and secretarial support. The post holder will be issued with all required IT equipment including a laptop and mobile phone as may be required.
About the Service
Stanage Ward is a male only acute mental health inpatient ward which has 16 beds staffed by a full multidisciplinary team. Service users on the ward will have access to a range of professionals, including Nurses, Psychiatrist, Physician Associate, Advanced Clinical Practitioner, Psychologists, Pharmacist, Support Workers and Occupational Therapists. The team share their expertise and experience to provide the very best care to our service users. The ward operates on Purposeful Inpatient Admission framework (PIPA) as led by the Consultant Psychiatrist.
Every service user admitted to the ward will have a care plan which outlines specific details of the treatment and support they will be offered. This includes a named nurse who will be allocated to each service user and works with them throughout their time on the ward. The team works closely with community mental health services and other interface agencies to ensure timely, effective and safe care for patients.
