We're looking to appoint a Senior Performance Analyst to join our friendly and well-established Performance and Analytics Team. It's a fantastic time to join Sheffield Partnership as we harness the benefits of our new electronic patient record (EPR) system and embed a new data warehouse alongside Power BI, supporting us to become an even more data-driven organisation.

We offer a range of training and education opportunities as well as on-the-job training when learning new skills or systems such as Power BI.

Hybrid working: our staff work a mix of from our head office, clinical sites and from home. Everyone is also welcome to work in the office full time. Time co-located with clinical teams every week is essential and the successful candidates will need to travel to a variety of clinical sites across Sheffield as required.

Main duties of the job

The Performance and Analytics Team at Sheffield Partnership:

ensures performance is measured, monitored and managed in all areas of the Trust in accordance with its Performance Improvement Framework,

provides the Trust and key partners with reporting, business intelligence and analytics services,
supports the Trust to understand clinical activity recorded in its electronic patient record (EPR) systems.

Senior Performance Analysts are specialists that use their analytical and problem-solving skills to get to the bottom of complex challenges in data, reporting and performance. They turn data into actionable insight, supporting clinical and corporate colleagues to understand their performance and opportunities to improve. They line manage a small number of Performance Analysts and further the continuous learning and development culture of the team.

Job responsibilities

11.Observe and promote the Trusts policies and procedures including those in respect of conduct, health and safety and equality of opportunities.

22. Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development, attending relevant events and learning from good practice elsewhere.

33. Deputise for Lead Performance Analysts and other Senior Performance Analysts as required.

44. Partner with stakeholders up to and including head of service level.

55. Effectively manage own workload, deadlines and priorities. Maintain an overview of Performance Analysts workload.

66. Manage competing demands and expectations of multiple stakeholders while maintaining positive relationships.

77. Develop and maintain an understanding of relevant clinical and corporate services, stakeholders, processes and systems.

99. Contribute to Digital department plans in relation to performance, data reporting and analytics.

110. Participate in audits of the Performance Framework and any other topic related to data, information, reporting and data analysis.

111. Advocate across the Trust for digital and data solutions where appropriate and proportionate.

Line management

112. Line manage a small number of Performance Analysts.

113. Support Performance Analysts to achieve the objectives within their job roles through regular supervision, coaching and mentoring, facilitating training, and annual appraisals.

114. Manage the performance and absence of individual team members.

Reporting, Business Intelligence and Analytics

115. Support colleagues (up to head of service level) to make the best use of EPR data and performance information.

116. Develop and maintain an understanding of key data sources, data flows and architecture, data warehouse and tabular model, existing data reporting of the Trust, and relevant national and regional benchmarking.

117. Develop and maintain an understanding of the NHS Performance Assessment Framework, commissioner/contractual information reporting requirements and performance against these, CQC registration requirements, national best practice standards and local SHPU targets and objectives.

118. Proactively identify the information reporting and analytics needs of the organisation and add these to the relevant work plan

119. Elicit detailed reporting requirements from a range of stakeholders by understanding the context of their request. Negotiate changes based on technical/data quality limitations. Identify opportunities to enhance reports beyond the original specification in line with the context. Document and validate with stakeholders

220. Work with the Data Warehouse Team to ensure that regularly and/or frequently used metrics are constructed in the data warehouse and tabular model as appropriate.

221. Balance the value of reporting/information provided and the time and complexity of the development work.

322. Develop accurate, up-to-date and useful self-service reports that have a professional look and feel, are easy to use, are updated as required and are decommissioned when no longer needed.

423. Use appropriate solutions in line with the Trusts strategic technical direction, escalating exceptions to the Performance and Analytics Manager.

524. Publish refreshable reports in line with the change management process.

625. Maintain and improve documentation using approved tools.

226. Support stakeholders to use performance information for decision making, performance management, research and service improvement.

827. Produce information reports on an ad hoc basis.

928. Employ a range of techniques to analyse complex, and sometimes contentious, information from a variety of sources. Pragmatically mitigate data quality challenges.

129. Present insights verbally and in writing in an easy-to-understand way to stakeholders with different levels of data literacy, making reliable recommendations that guide decision making.

30. Keep up to date with new techniques, methods and technologies and share these with the rest of the team.

131. Ensure that metrics are reported in line with national information standards and, where not available, defined in collaboration with Lead Performance Analysts, based on a combination of local practice and specifications and advice from other providers.

132. Research the use of more advanced analytical techniques which deliver predictive and prescriptive analytics; share these within the team to support continuous improvement.

133. Support clinical and corporate teams to access, understand and interpret clinical data.

134. Quality assure the work of Performance Analysts.

135. Provide advice and guidance in relation to performance information and analysis across the Trust.

Data Quality

136. Promote high data quality throughout the Trust and support the production and maintenance of systems, processes and training that improve the quality of data.

237. Report on the availability and quality of data.

Performance Measurement, Monitoring and Management

338. Apply the Performance Framework to SHPU teams.

439. Produce performance reports including the Integrated Performance and Quality Report (IPQR) and papers for Board of Directors and Board sub-committees.

540. Support the development of key performance indicators (KPIs).

641. Develop and maintain robust documentation including action logs, recovery plans and exception reports.

142. Use statistical process control (SPC) charts and other statistical techniques to identify when performance is deteriorating or below target and not improving, and track improvements in line with recovery plans.

243. Use capacity and demand models to support performance improvement.

344. Contribute to the production and updating of recovery plans.

445. Support the effective running of performance meetings including the writing, recording and tracking of actions.

546. Organise the collation of benchmarking datasets working with a range of stakeholders; submit on time and to a high standard.

647. Triangulate strategy, objectives, business plans, risks, projects, programme, QI, and service development with performance measurement, monitoring and management.
