Job summary

To manage a defined caseload, using evidence-based, client-centred principles.To assess occupational and vocational needs.To plan and implement interventions in a range of settings, including, clinical and community.To maintain clinical recordsTo develop skills and knowledge through participation in PDR and supervision

Main duties of the job

To undertake occupational therapy assessments for a designated caseload, addressing occupational performance and skill deficits, enabling the client in areas of self-maintenance, productivity and leisure.To work with clients to identify OT goals as part of the overall care planTo plan and implement individual and/or group interventions, in collaboration with the client, using graded activity to achieve therapeutic goalsTo appropriately signpost to community-based servicesTo effectively assess riskTo monitor and evaluate treatment, in order to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of the intervention

  • Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy
  • Registration with Health Care Professions Council

Desirable

  • Placement Educator Accreditation L'APPLE or willingness to undertake within first year

  • Ability to assess complex health and well being needs and develop appropriate OT interventions
  • The ability to monitor and prioritise own workload and work as an effective member of a team
  • Ability to work within the limits of own competence and responsibility, referring issues on to relevant people

Desirable

  • Knowledge of a range of mental health conditions and relevant mental health legislation
  • Group work skills

Experience

  • Previous experience in adult mental health environment
  • Participation in and documentation of continuing professional development

  • Experience of supporting people with vocational/educational goals.
