We have an exciting opportunity for trained Nursing Associates to join our Trust with various posts within Adult Acute inpatient services.
As a Nurse Associate, you will have the opportunity to make a difference & impact peoples lives by working clinically, as part of a multi disciplinary team to provide high quality, safe & person - centred care for people with mental health challenges.
Main duties of the job
- As a NMC registered practitioner, the Nursing Associate will work in a clinical field, with minimal supervision from and report to a Registered Nurse. They will deliver safe, compassionate, and dignified person-centred health care.
- The Nursing Associate will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, compassionate, and person-centred care to individuals with mental health challenges and/or learning disabilities. Working under the guidance of registered nurses and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- The Nurse Associate will contribute to the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of care; implementing evidence-based care; utilise relevant guidance, protocols, and policies (local and national). This position offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of individuals by supporting their mental well-being and promoting independence.
- The Nursing Associate will be responsible for delegation of duties to staff whilst developing and supervising junior staff/student nurses and trainee nursing associates
- You will be required to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service

- Clinical Care
- Provide direct care and support to individuals with mental health needs and/or learning disabilities, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social well-being in a variety of care settings.
- Assist in the development and implementation of personalised care plans in collaboration with the service user, family, and wider care team.
- Monitor and record physical and mental health conditions, escalating concerns to the registered nurse or clinical lead as necessary.
- Support therapeutic interventions, such as group activities, behavioural therapies, or life skills training.
- Identify risks using contemporary assessment tools to improve safety and quality of care.
2. Communication and collaboration
- Build positive, respectful relationships with service users, families, and carers.
- Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, maintaining open and professional communication.
- Advocate for the needs and preferences of service users, ensuring their voices are heard and respected.
- Recognise changes in a person's condition that require intervention and understanding when to refer to the supervising Registered Nurse and senior colleagues for reassessment.
- Report and raise concerns about Safeguarding, accessing advice and support at the point of need. Be conversant with Trust policies, procedures and systems for safeguarding including the assessment of Mental Capacity, the process for requests for Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLS) and demonstration of the principles of Prevent (counter terrorism awareness).

- Contribute to the education and training of service users, families, and staff, sharing knowledge and promoting awareness of mental health and learning disabilities.

- To provide supervision to newly qualified staff and students, new starters and Student Nursing Associates encouraging an effective learning environment.
- To provide support and supervision to Healthcare Assistants to promote their learning and development within their role.
