Senior Practitioner

Job summary

Provide a clinical/practice overview and input into the team. The post holder will provide a senior clinical and day to day managerial leadership role within the service. The post holder will be an integral part of the leadership/ management structure, developing practice, practitioners & team functioning.

Main duties of the job

Responsible with the Clinical Lead for managing and developing staff from a range of professions by providing regular work supervision and appraisal.

Be a positive role model to promote a conducive working environment.

Responsible with the Clinical Lead and Leadership Team for developing effective team working.

Responsible for the development of evidence-based practice within the service.

Responsible with the Clinical Lead for ensuring that the service adheres to care pathways and service wide systems and processes for the delivery of health and social care

Responsible for the development of service policies and protocols in conjunction with other senior practitioners and managers across the service.

Responsible with the Clinical Lead for ensuring effective systems and governance structures to support the effective delivery of care.

Have a good understanding of the issues related to Safeguarding and be able to work collaboratively with the relevant safeguarding managers within the trust

  • Demonstrate knowledge of local and national policy related to mental health
  • Be competent and confident, to provide expertise, advice and clinical and managerial leadership and role modelling to the teams they are working with
  • Comprehensive knowledge of mental health act and other relevant legislation

Desirable

  • Knowledge of importance of Physical Heath assessments and audits and the impact on service users.
  • Knowledge of audit and evaluation processes

Training and Qualifications

Essential

  • oExperience of working as a Registered Nurse or Social Worker at B6 level
  • oBe educated to degree level or equivalent
  • oEvidence of continued professional development, including in leadership and management

Experience

  • oExperience of supervising staff
  • oAbility to demonstrate a high level of skill and expertise in effective decision making whilst exposed to distressing and highly emotional situations.
  • oExperience of mental health work in a community setting

  • oExperience of working with a culturally diverse population
