Job summary

This an exciting opportunity for passionate colleagues to join the specialist team at a time of expansion across South Yorkshire to reduce disparity and ensure equitable access to eating disorders service. The post holder will work as part of the Sheffield Eating Disorders Service Multi-Disciplinary Team to implement and plan care to service users in their respective geographical areas.

To become a member of the SHSC eating disorders team providing a specialist community service to work with service users across South Yorkshire. The Sheffield Eating Disorders Service covers South Yorkshire (Sheffield hub and regional spokes within Barnsley, Rotherham & Doncaster). The professional will be expected to attend planned clinics across South Yorkshire to deliver care close to patient's home. In addition to planned clinics there may be occasions when colleagues are expected to meet with patient in other settings i.e. inpatient setting to support person-centred care planning. To work in partnership with service users and other agenciesto ensure effective liaison and communication.

The characteristics of the core population receiving direct services are people with complex psychological and emotional needs who may have experienced adverse life events. Those with serious mental illness, for example; eating disorders, complex trauma, personality disorder, and complex depression and anxiety (the list is not exhaustive).

Main duties of the job

This position is for a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with additional training, experience or a special interest in eating disorders. The role requires an individual who is committed to team working and has the flexibility to work with clients who may be resistant or ambivalent about change on a one-to-one basis. This role requires a dynamic person who is able to work autonomously, whilst retaining responsibility for managing/planning and caring for a group of acute and chronically unwell patients. This role will include a requirement for training to support the post holder to be competent in carrying out required physical health observations. The post holder will work closely with an experienced multi-disciplinary team who will provide ongoing training, direct supervision and support. The post holder will provide advice and consultation to primary care, mental health teams, acute hospitals and other relevant agencies.
