Job summary

You will be working in a well established and skilled Occupational Therapy Team within the Specialist Community Learning Disability Service (SCLDS) at Sheffield Health and Social Care Trust.

We are a supportive and friendly team and you will have lots of opportunities for continued professional development with regular supervision.

You will hold an independent caseload of adult service users with Learning Disabilities and associated needs, You will also have the opportunity to be involved in multidisciplinary pathways such as Dementia, Autism and Eligibility .

You'll work closely with an MDT including , Nursing , SLT, Physio, Music and Art therapy, and Psychology.

Main duties of the job

To manage a defined caseload, using evidence based/client centredprinciples to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions incommunity settings and on home visitso To maintain accurate clinical recordso To develop skills and knowledge through participation in supervision,preceptorship and PDRo To contribute to the development and maintenance of the highestprofessional standards of practice, through active participation in internal and external CPD training and development programs.o To participate in multidisciplinary pathways which may includeAutism/dementia and Eligibility.

Completing outcome measures To provide OT advice and training to carers, clients and otherprofessionals. To be responsible for the supervision and written assessment ofOccupational Therapy students on practice placement within the Trust on completion of competencies. To participate in the operational planning, and implementation of policyand service development within the team. To maintain a high level of knowledge of resources, service and nationalissues relating to people who have a learning disability. To apply specialist skills and knowledge in order to establish professional competence and fitness to practise as an Occupational Therapist. To be actively involved in the development and implementation of the new service structure

The LD Service operates from 8am to 8pm and staff will be expected to workflexibly to meet the needs of the service and be able to travel independentlyacross two bases: Firshill Rise and Grenoside Grange
