Job summary
The Perinatal Mental Health Service is a growing specialist service for women and their families in Sheffield. We are excited to have received investment to expand the service, and are now recruiting more staff to come and join our team.
We are looking for a social worker to join our team with a real passion for perinatal mental health. Experience in this field is not essential and full induction is offered, but you will be keen to develop a career in this area. You should have attained a level of experience proportionate to the competencies detailed in the job description, possess the skills as detailed in the person specification and be able to work autonomously and with partner agencies. We are a trauma informed service that seeks to understand presenting difficulties in the context of people's whole lives and work with that to promote understanding. You will be a compassionate practitioner who wants to make a difference to families.

Main duties of the job
To provide social work input and interventions, working in tandem with the multi-disciplinary team in the Perinatal Mental Health Service, providing a service for patients experiencing and recovering from perinatal mental health problems.
The post holder will lead and contribute to the provision of a comprehensive range of evidence-based interventions, including as a Lead Professional for a defined caseload.
The post holder will have a good understanding of trauma informed practice and systemic approaches to mental health care.
To be accountable for a clinical caseload delivering appropriate and effective evidence-based care to meet the needs of patients.
To work collaboratively with patients and their families to facilitate and promote rehabilitation and recovery helping patients to achieve and maintain their optimum level of mental health functioning and quality of life in the community.
To work in conjunction with the wider team to develop and deliver high quality, safe and effective services, in accordance with key national targets, clinical standards, service priorities and key performance indicators.
To be a key point of liaison between the service and the safeguarding systems and processes which affect our client group, and to represent the service in key safeguarding forums and processes.
To work in partnership with commissioners and other partner agencies to provide perinatal services that achieve the best possible outcomes for service users and their families.

To carry out comprehensive initial assessments, including risk assessment, liaison with other services involved with the family and thorough reviews of clinical documentation. To generate and evaluate collaborative care plans and outcomes regularly and modify as required ensuring any social care specific information is accurately recorded.
To attend Child Protection Case Conferences and Safeguarding planning meetings and complete and provide guidance to the team around Child Protection reports and court reports as required.
To attend and participate in MDTMs and all statutory meetings as required and ensure documentation standards are met.
To liaise effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary team and otheragencies involved in the care of the individual thereby maintaining and enhancing close professional working relationships.
