Job summary

An exciting opportunity to join Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust as EPRR lead. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading Emergency and Resilience planning across our Trust by developing plans and processes for our strategic and operational response in line with related NHS Emergency planning guidance and by the provision of expert advice to our Executive Team.

The post holder will have direct responsibility for ensuring that our Trust maintains emergency and business continuity plans to fulfil its legal obligations under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 and as required in the NHS England EPRR core standards. The post holder will report to the Executive Director of Operations and Transformation and Accountable Emergency Officer and lead on an EPRR team to meet the increased requirements for NHS resilience and the annual EPRR work plan.

Main duties of the job

The role of EPRR manager covers work on business continuity plan development, assessment and testing as well as supporting the Accountable Emergency Officer in other EPRR plan development. The post holder will be required to train staff in aspects of EPRR, business continuity and associated subjects.

The EPRR manager will be expected to work on their own portfolio of work and will deputise for and support the Accountable Emergency Officer both at Trust meetings and at ICB level and wider area meetings.

The post holder will be required to develop, maintain, and manage effective relationships with a range of stakeholders internally and externally. They will always work within our Trust behaviour framework and make decisions and act in line with Trust values. They will communicate and interact widely within the Trust with managers and staff in all services. They will also be required to communicate with external partners and commissioners regarding EPRR matters and in any emergency.

Additionally, the post holder will develop business continuity processes working with service managers and Implement agreed EPRR policies and plans across the organisation. The post holder will be expected to analyse complex situations involving adverse risk and produce recommendations based on managing and mitigating these risks. Given the nature of the role the post holder will also be expected to provide advice and courses of action while in incident situations.

The role also involves maintaining relationships and working as part of a larger team at the Trust around aspects of EPRR and Business Continuity:

  • Acting as a point of contact and a subject matter expert on EPRR.
  • Developing and maintaining strong and productive working relationships with multi agency partners and EPRR leads across the system.
  • Participating in health economy EPRR forums as agreed with their line manager.

Disseminating information relating to EPRR, including national guidance, and sharing of lessons learnt from internal/external incidents.
