Job summary

We are seeking a committed and highly motived Consultant in Forensic Psychiatry or a General Adult Consultant with an interest in Forensic Psychiatry.

The post holder will be responsible for providing medical cover at Forest Lodge and the Community Forensic Team in Sheffield and to provide gatekeeping assessments for people who may require admission to a low secure inpatient setting. An additional PA is provided to the postholder to conduct the gatekeeping assessments.

Main duties of the job

Applicants should have a higher qualification in psychiatry (Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent) and be included on or be eligible for inclusion on the GMC's Specialist Register. Specialty Registrars who are within 6 months of attainment of CCST at the time of interview are eligible to apply. The appointee will need to be both S12 approved and an Approved Clinician to fulfill contractual duties. If the applicant was not approved at the time of the interview, s/he must be fully eligible for approval.

The post holder will occasionally cover for absent colleagues, as well as undertaking, exceptionally, to perform additional duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances. You will be expected to undertake the ordinary administration duties of a Consultant post, including participation in professional audit, business planning and related activities. A contribution to the management of the service is essential.
