Summary We are recruiting an experienced Band 6 clinician (Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker) to join the North London NHS Foundation Trust Crisis Hub -- a 24/7 telephone-based first point of contact for people in mental health crisis, their families and professional referrers. The postholder will deliver high-quality, evidence-based telephone triage, risk assessment and care planning to support safe outcomes and reduce unnecessary A&E attendance and inpatient admissions.
Main duties of the job
- Undertake specialist telephone triage and clinical risk assessment, providing timely and person-centred care and clear safety plans.
- Make informed decisions about referral and escalation pathways and coordinate with partner services.
- Maintain accurate patient records on RiO and meet KPI and audit requirements.
- Provide clinical leadership on shift, supervise junior staff, support induction and contribute to team learning and quality improvement.
- Participate in mandatory training, supervision and appraisal processes.
Rotation requirement (explicit)
- Postholders will periodically rotate into the Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team (CR&HTT) / crisis face-to-face services as part of the service staffing roster. These rotations will be supervised and supported by the CRHTT manager.
Person specification (high level)
- Current registration with relevant professional body (e.g., NMC for RMNs).
- Minimum 24 months post-registration experience and competence in acute and community risk assessment.
- Strong communication, leadership and decision-making skills; experience supervising staff and delivering training.
- Knowledge of Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and CPA processes.
